Takusan Ryu Karate or  “Many Ways Empty Hand”, is actually a combined curriculum rather than a style.
This curriculum is derived from a blend of five  major disciplines:

Goju Ryu Karate (Hard & soft Empty hand ) originated from Okinawa and utilizes low stances, powerful
hand strikes, Blocks and kicks.

Japanese Jujitsu (The gentle art) originated from Japan in the days of the Samurai and utilizes throws,
joint locks, pressure point techniques and choke holds and submissions.

Taekwondo (The way of the hand and foot) originated from Korea and emphasizes dynamic kicks thrown
from a mobile stance, employing the leg’s greater reach and power
.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and
especially ground fighting. The art was derived from the Japanese martial art of Judo which was itself
developed from Japanese Jujitsu.

Kobudo or Bukijutsu (Weapon technique) Utilizes traditional  weapon techniques and kata from Okinawa,
Japan and the  Philippines which include: Bo-jutsu, Sai-jutsu, Nunchaku-jutsu, Iaido (sword way), Shuriken-
jutsu, Escrima and others.

Here at the Dojo (martial arts school), students learn and practice Blocking, Striking, Kicking, Self defense
and throws, Partner drills, Kata (memorized patterns), Sparring, Board breaking, Calisthenics and Break-
falls. During classes some of the instruction is done using Japanese commands. We have found that our
students learn this language easily and seem to really enjoy doing so .
